Chungnam Asan are a perfect…. won seven, drew seven, lost seven this season. Even their last three matches have ended with a win, loss, and draw. With nothing to play for in K League 2, they should give this a good go.
Daejeon have finally begun to turn their season around, and were on course for their biggest victory of the season when they led FC Seoul 2-1 heading in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, they conceded not once, not twice, but trice to lose 4-2.

Ulsan Citizen haven’t won a league match since July 7 – in fact, their only victories since then were cup ties against K League 2 high-fliers Seoul E-Land and city rivals Ulsan HD. Last weekend they lost in Busan. And yet here they are, facing the weakest team in K League 1 with a chance for an upset.
Gwangju are having a historically bad season in K League 1. Their only win of the entire league campaign came in round 2 against Incheon United. With 11 points to show for their 23 league matches, Gwangju are 14 points from safety and nailed on to compete in the relegation playoffs.

Owing to safety checks at Pohang Steel Yard, this match has been moved to Gwangyang, ensuring a tiny crowd will attend. Pohang were in South Jeolla Province last weekend, beating Gwangju in injury time. That brought an end to a ghastly four-match losing streak.
Jinju would prefer to face Pohang in the famous Steel Yard. The K4 leaders have eliminated clubs in K League 2 and K3 thus far. Can they go one better and topple a giant of Korean football? This is their first match since eliminating Busan Transportation.

The only all-K League 1 fixture comes just four days after Jeju beat Anyang 2-0 in K League 1. After a brilliant summer, that loss was Anyang’s third-in-a-row. From competing for third, Anyang are now out of the top half. They need a win here to keep the cup run going, and snap that unwanted streak.
Jeju are the hottest team in K League 1 following that comfortable win over Anyang. Interestingly, the Violets are the last side to beat Jeju (other than Bayern Munich!) since May. After narrowly avoiding relegation, Jeju are up to fourth.

Jeonbuk fans are in revolt because their team is joint-fourth in K League 1, three points from second. They’ve lost two straight with audible calls for the manager to leave after just 23 matches. They are defending cup champions. They will not tolerate an early elimination.
Dangjin were due to host this match, but it has since moved to Jeonju. Their run to the Round of 16 was achieved by winning on the road in Yongin and Yeoju, so perhaps they won’t be fazed by the trip to Jeonju. They haven’t played since eliminating Yeoju three weeks ago.

Gimpo eliminated Incheon with a late-winner to set up this clash with Gimcheon. However, their league form – especially at home – remains indifferent. They keep drawing matches 1-1, which has completely stalled their early season momentum.
Including their cup win over Suwon FC, Gimcheon are six matches without loss. They battled to a 1-1 draw in Sungui on Sunday night, despite being nowhere near their best. Still 11th in K League 1, they’re actually closer to Ulsan (2nd) than Gwangju (12th). Final A unlikely but not impossible.
With Sangmu leaving Gimcheon this winter, this is their last cup tie as Gimcheon Sangmu. Will they have a new fan base for the quarter-finals, should they win?

After a run of one point from nine finally ended Gangwon‘s improbable championship bid, they got back to winning ways in Ulsan at the weekend. They led twice, were pegged back twice, before snatching the win late on. Their ACL Elite dreams ended last midweek against Gamba Osaka.
A managerial change has not brought instant pain relief for Seongnam, as they face another lost season in K League 2. Last season’s playoff run is a distant memory. Beaten by Paju at the weekend, Seongnam are 11th. Their season is over.

Busan were league leaders before the last round, then they lost four in a row before a much-needed draw with Hwaseong at the weekend. They’re not completely out of the title picture, however it looks unlikely they can top K League 2 with their squad.
Bucheon are in bonus territory now after ensuring survival for at least another season. The 3-2 win over Jeonbuk was their second win over the defending champions this year, and their 100th home win. Crazily, Bucheon are not far away from finishing in the top 6.
