π₯ Match of the Weekend
Busan I’Park vs Suwon Blue Wings
π Stadium: Busan
π Kick-off: Saturday, July 25th. 19:30
This is 1st vs 2nd, and the approach by Busan will be the key talking point here. 3 points, and they will kick their pursuer back down, but lose and Suwon will match them on points at the top of the league. The permutations are massive. Busan’s surprise rise to the K2 summit with a 7 game winning streak earlier in the season, has looked increasingly shaky, with them taking just 8 points from the last 5 games, and their lead at the top has been cut to just 3 points. Suwon however, have their own concerns, having only put 7 points on the board in their last 5, they are ranked 8th in the goal scoring charts and continue to misfire. Defeat here could see them plummet to 4th by the weekend’s end and closer to falling out the play-off spots than winning the league. This will be a real test of the tactical nous of both managers.
π΅οΈ Hidden Story
π One must Fall: Daegu vs Suwon FC
It is a real feat in the K2 this weekend, with 3rd also playing 4th. Both of these sides were relegated last season, and both are near identical in terms of performance this season. They have both scored 36 goals, both conceded 23, and the only separation is that Daegu have won one more game (with Suwon drawing). The two sides fought out a 2-2 thriller in Suwon back in April as Daegu fought back from 2 goals down with an 88th minute Edgar equaliser. Perhaps the difference will be the diversity of scorers, with Daegu having a general consistency of goals from different players, which not only gives defensive plans less of a focus (see below for Suwon’s reliance on Frizzo), it may also hold Daegu in better stead over the course of the remaining season.

π Player to Watch
Frizzo [Suwon FC]
β Position: Attacking Midfield
π Recent Form: 17 matches, 10 goals, 6 assists
You might say Suwon FC are depending on Frizzo to fire them back into the top tier, with 44% of Suwon’s goals this season either being scored or created by the Brazilian. He typically plays behind the striker, but has also been deployed on the wing this season, and his well on the way to winning the K2 Golden Boot this season. Expect to see his name on the scoresheet in Daegu, and perhaps even a few scouts in the stands!
